Fairey Marine. A Brief History

Soon after the Second World War Fairey Marine was formed by Sir Charles Richard Fairey and Fairey Aviation's Managing Director Mr Chichester-Smith. It wasn't until the 1960's that they launched their first powerboat which was to become the Fairey Huntress so named in recognition of the hull design from Ray Hunt of America. This boat was a resounding success and so later boats were developed offering greater accommodation and power as the years progressed.

Several specials and extended versions were also built.

Fairey boats saw considerable success in racing which fuelled the desire for what was to become the archetypal thoroughbred of the sea. Alan Burnard, the gifted designer and Naval Architect responsible for the design of the range would never have imagined that such a large percentage of his boats would still be in existence today and cherished as they undoubtedly are.

The list if celebrity and Royal owners is like reading a copy of Who's Who and in most cases their boats are still being enjoyed to this day.
